Economics is a subject that everyone uses in their life--whether or not they know it. Despite this, most of my teaching experience is teaching to students required to take a course they expect will be difficult, boring, and not useful. My classes include a mix of theory with examples and data that is appropriate to the course level along with motivations for each topic.
I have taught classes in different formats (online and in a traditional classroom), levels (introductory and an upper-level environmental economics course), and institutions (large state school and small liberal arts college). I have also taught classes with a variety of enrollment, from 90 students in online classes to an intro course with 6 students. By combining my experiences as a student, conversations with mentors, and teaching experiences, I have developed a methodology that is a good baseline for me, which I strive to improve every semester.
Teaching Interest: applied microeconomics, environmental and natural resource economics, energy economics, economic valuation and welfare, applied econometrics and statistics, introductory economics, intermediate and advanced microeconomics, math for economists, research methods and writing
